What is the CORE Econ Publishing Documentation?
The CORE Econ Publishing Documentation describes the many ways we maintain quality and consistency across our books. Like every good publishing team, we’ve long documented our preferred editorial and artwork styles. For example, do we use an Oxford comma? What font do we use for axis labels?
What’s new and special about this documentation is that it’s now online, public, and searchable. We’ve gone much further than most publishing projects: we include descriptions of all our book features and how to use them; in-depth descriptions of our workflow from writing to publication; guides to content development and translation; and detailed instructions for managing and tagging content.
Who is the CORE Econ Publishing Documentation for?
CORE’s books and resources are created by an enormous number of contributors from all over the world: authors, reviewers, translators, editors, proofreaders, designers, fact-checkers, project managers, and more.
We’ve always provided documentation to these contributors in various forms. The new online documentation gathers that information in one, searchable place.
Even if you’re not an existing CORE Econ contributor you may find the documentation interesting and useful.
How to use the CORE Econ Publishing Documentation
For an overview of what’s available, start on the landing page. Then click on the sections that interest you to drill down. If you’re looking for something specific, you can search using the search bar on the landing page, or from the ‘Contents’ menu on other pages.
Search is powered by Google, so you can use Google’s search syntax, such as quote marks around phrases, for more specificity.

Why is the CORE Econ Publishing Documentation important?
The quality of our books is critically important to CORE Econ, and that means being careful and consistent, and keeping our efforts aligned. Our documentation is a key part of achieving that.
It’s also a collaborative work in progress: we continually expand and refine this documentation as we work, and as we receive feedback from our growing community of instructors, students, and collaborators. If you have suggestions for us, we’d love to hear from you.
