The CORE Project is made possible by volunteer contributions from hundreds of people around the world who are giving their time to produce new texts or translate or adapt the ebooks already published. The following projects are under way:
- Classroom games and experiments
This new ebook is conceived as a guide to conducting games in the classroom, with practical advice, supporting information, downloadable material, and suggested MCQs, discussion topics in class, and exercises. Some games will be recreated on the classEx platform to enable teachers to run live online experiments with their class.
The beta edition of the ebook will be available in early 2020. It will include seven experiments, tailored to CORE’s ebooks – The Economy and Economy, Society, and Public Policy, including:
– paper airplanes game that illustrates how diminishing returns in production arise,
– market experiment used to introduce students to the working of competitive markets,
– public goods provision game suitable for exploring altruistic preferences and reciprocity,
– dictator game to illustrate the role of fairness and norms in economic behaviour.
- South Asian adaptation
The South Asian adaptation of The Economy, which will include localized content and region-specific examples in an adapted ebook, is being developed by CORE partners at the Azim Premji University in Bengaluru, India.
The Portuguese translation of The Economy, produced by Brazil’s Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA), will be available as an ebook in late 2020.
The Spanish translation of The Economy, supported by the International Economic Association, is the work of CORE contributors from Chile, Colombia, Spain and Uruguay. Units 1-10 will be published as an ebook by the end of January 2020, while units 11-22 will be published in August 2020.
The Vietnamese translation of The Economy is being developed by the National Economics University, Hanoi.
The Georgian translations of The Economy and Doing Economics are being developed by the Caucasian House, Tbilisi.
